Chantal is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters of Counselling Psychology from Adler University. She is passionate about honouring the stories and life experiences of clients with humility, non-judgment, and heartfelt compassion. Her clinical work is strongly informed by both lived experience and emerging research that uniquely confirm how we may heal in relationship.
Chantal obtained her Bachelor of Arts in International Security and Conflict Resolution Studies from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. She later completed her Masters of Counselling Psychology at Adler University in Vancouver, British Columbia.
As a lifelong learner, Chantal is consistently seeking supplementary training to enrich her practice and is currently completing her second neurobiologically-informed complex trauma treatment certification under the instruction of Dr. Janina Fischer.
Chantal’s work is rooted in the principles of existentialism, intersectional feminism, Buddhist psychology, mindful self-compassion, narrative therapy, and interpersonal neurobiology. Her education and life experiences have led to a clinical focus on trauma, substance use disorders, and other forms of addiction through a biopsychosocial-spiritual lens.
In the exploration across client life histories there is a heavy focus on safety, stability, and appropriate resourcing. While honouring and re-authoring client life stories that foster meaning and hope, Chantal strongly believes in the ongoing promotion of client safety, curiosity and collaboration. Above all, she is committed to a creating a space where clients may feel seen, heard, respected, and above all affirmed in their courage to take action toward healing.
Chantal loves to lead her life with gentleness. When she is not studying or working with clients, she is painting, writing, resting, or connecting to the land and her community.
What is your unfinished business? Life experiences that have not been adequately processed or resolved have a lasting presence in our lives. They keep showing up in ways we may or may not be aware of. Counselling gives us the opportunity to explore our unfinished business and the role it is playing in our lives currently. I look forward to joining you on your journey to learn more about yourself and what is getting in the way of you living the life you want.
Every person is different. I approach my work with each client through an eclectic lens to ensure the best fit for each individual and their needs. My trauma informed approach focuses on collaboration and the therapeutic relationship as the foundations of our work together. We will work together to establish safety in the relationship and build opportunities for authentic connection to pave the way for the journey of counselling. Some of the modalities I integrate into my work include:
- Attachment-based Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT)
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
- Person-centered Therapy
I look forward to connecting with you!
